Vocational Training Facility

The vocational training facility allows area high school students the opportunity to work, for pay in a safe, supported environment. This allows the student to learn needed employment skills as well as work ethic and value.

Students who have their driver license have the opportunity to participate in a Fork Truck Training program. This program offers training hours both in the classroom with a certified teacher and on the Truck with a certified instructor.

Work Based Learning

Community Based Vocational Training (CBVT)

Community Based Vocational Training allows students to explore vocational options and pratice vocational skills in an authentic work environment. Students gain valuable work experience as well as increase self esteem and gain work ethic. Through interest inventories as well as input from teachers, the student and parents a realistic employment goal is identified.

The student will explore various jobs by shadowing (Vocational Exploration) and/or hands-on experience. We assist students with the transition from school to the world of work through support and accommodations as needed. Every attempt is made by our agency to have the students placed in a job upon their graduation.

Community Work Experience (CWE)

CWE is when a student moves from CBVT into a paid work position with that business. Students continue to be supported by jobs coaches as needed in this situation.

Benefits of CBVT & CWE

  • identify career interests, skills and abilities
  • explore career goals
  • identify on the job support needs
  • develop employability skills and good work habits
  • gain an understanding of employer expectations
  • gain an understanding of the link between school and work
  • gain work experience / resume builder
  • develop understanding of the workplace

Vocational Assessment

Through the Office of Vocational Rehabilitation a Vocational Assessment is able to be completed.
